The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has notified the Nidhi (Amendment) Rules, 2024, via Notification No. G.S.R. 413(E) dated July 16, 2024.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 406 read with sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 469 of the Companies Act, 2013 (18 of 2013), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to amend the Nidhi Rules, 2014:

  • (1) These rules may be called the Nidhi (Amendment) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
  • In the Nidhi Rules, 2014, in rule 4, in sub-rule (5), the following proviso shall be inserted: "Provided that a company shall not use the words 'Nidhi Limited' in its name unless it is declared as such under sub-section (1) of section 406 of the Act."
